Festival du Livre Exceeds Expectations!
We will be purchasing many books and magazines with our earned Scholastic credit.
Our next English book fair is the second week of December: 8th, 9th, and 11th (Tue, Wed, Fri). Mark it on your calendars :)
I will need help again from our grade five students as well as many parents for this one too. Contact me through school email smurrell@sd83.bc.ca, drop by or leave a phone message at the office 832-3741.
Great day to you all, Ms. Murrells-Allaway, the Ardent Librarian

DEAR - Drop Everything and Read, 2015
The official DEAR was today, but I was unable to get our school organized for this fun event so close to Festival du Livre. Thus, my post is late, but that does not mean that DEAR cannot happen. Thus, be bold; have fun, AND find a time to DROP EVERYTHING AND READ for a min of 20 mins this week.
Write about your experience below - take some photos.

Last day for the Festival du Livre, Fri/Vendredi, 16 Oct.
One day left for the Festival du livre française - Vendredi/Fri, 16, Oct.
7:45 am - 8:15am
recess
lunch
After school til 3pm Fri. (Clean up crew will promptly begin packing up the books at 3pm)
During Library Classes: sales will also occur for students and parents
Volunteers still needed for the Fri., 3pm clean and pack up. Contact Ms. Murrells-Allaway at smurrell@sd83.bc.ca and/or sign up at the Google doc (those without a Google account, may only be able to view the document).
A very successful day yesterday with $1076 in sales; thus, after two days we are at a grand total of $1515. Last year we had net sales of just over $2100, so we'll see how we do tomorrow. This year Scholastic has adjusted the fund raiser, so we now get 50% (rather than 40%) credit return rate on our sales - wow. That is a lot of buying power for our Bastion Library Learning Commons.
Hoping to see you tomorrow, Ms. Murrells-Allaway, teacher-librarian, lover of learning.

Festival du Livre, French Book Fair, Oct 13, 14, 16
Happy Thanskgiving to all! I gave up on blogging over the summer due to traveling in Central & Eastern Canada & poor wifi. And then once out of the routine, I found it hard to make the time again. I've probably lost some readership though, so here's my attempt to get our online learning community going again. Respond below or drop me an email to motivate me & remind me that an actual audience exits "out there!"
Thanks for reading this post. I look forward to our learning journey together, Ms Murrells-Allaway.
