Two More Days for Family Literacy Week!

Saturday:

  • "Build a Book Project," SAGA Public Art Gallery, Salmon Arm, 11-4pm
  • Family Storytime, Salmon Arm Public Library (ORL), Picadilly Mall, 11am
  • Same at the Sicamous, ORL, 11am
  • Same Enderby, ORL, 11am
  • Magic Show, South Shuswap ORL, 2pm

In closing, remember to Drop Everything and Read for at least 15 minutes a day (DEAR).  Post back some of the things you and you family have done for Family Literacy Week.

Family Literacy Week, Mon., Jan. 27th - Feb., 2nd, 2014



The Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society (LASS) invites us to "Unplug and Play" this week during "Family Literacy Week."

Check out our numerous Okanagan/Shuswap activities and schedule through the LASS site as well as download their activity passport to record all of the great things you do.

Pileated Woodpecker Visits Parkview Elementary

We had the joy of watching a Pileated Woodpecker fly around and check out various telephone polls this morning.  For those of you who missed this siting, check out the YouTube HD clip below.

Bobsled Athlete Justin Kripps from Summerland heads to Sochi, Russia for the Winter Olympics

Justin Kripps from Summerland and partner Jesse Lumsden bobsleigh athletes head to Sochi.  Listen to CBC's morning radio show Daybreak South interview with Justin by Chris Walker below (5:29).  CBC writes (Tue., Jan. 24th) : Sochi 2014's bobsleigh circuit will be teeming with Canucks.  One of the team members is Justin Kripps from Summerland.
    
He placed 5th at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.  This time he's switched seats and will pilot the two and four man sleighs.  Click hear to listen to a CBC radio interview between Justin and Daybreak South's morning personality Chris Walker
