Internet Safety - Garfield Tips

A student asked about the internet safety video he had missed early March and wanted to view it.  That clip is from the District Resource Centre and their "Learning 360" video collection, so I can only show that to you at school.  But, try the Garfield lessons below.

Note the "part 2/2" runs a little glitchy in parts, but the information, graphics, and storyline are well done.

Overall, remember that anything you post on the internet is there foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... AND do not share any personal information.

Media Literacy 101 - "Media Minute Introduction: What is media anyway?" Lessons 1 & 2

Greetings all!  I hope your Spring Break is going totally fabulous.  We've been on a family trip, celebrating birthdays, and enjoying down time at home.  We've also been doing some 'screen time" as a family and it made me think of all of you.  I started a media literacy unit with all Bastion students before Spring Break, sharing with them our district online databases (World Book, EBSCO and more (user names and passwords in letters sent home from me as well as in intermediate agendas), as well as talked a little about internet safety.

I'll continue that discussion on the blog for students and parents with "Media Literacy 101," a six unit lesson by Media Smarts: Canada's Centre for Digital and Media Literacy.  MediaSmarts

Let's start with lesson one and two today.  Recommend other good resources in the reply area below.
